Basik Frites

I tried it today after reading the good reviews, and it was a real treat! The value for money is excellent. I received a very warm welcome, and you can tell they love what they do when you eat their products, plus they have an excellent homemade brioche bun... what more could you ask for?

Nothing else

A basic disappointment for a price that's anything but. Attracted by the smell of fried food and a play on words on the storefront, I thought I'd find authentic, local fare at Basik Frites. How wrong I was! It was a brutal encounter with culinary nothingness. The Pain Bagnat? At €5.40, you expect a minimum of generosity. We were served an industrially produced bread with a desert-like dryness, a real "choker." Inside, the tuna is an endangered species: barely a quarter of a can, scattered with insulting parsimony. As for the mayonnaise, it must have evaporated before reaching the counter. The Mariolle Burger? A proud name for a truly lackluster result. The bun suffers from the same dehydration syndrome, and the Maroilles cheese—usually so generous—plays hide-and-seek here. We're still searching for the flavor, still searching for the sauce, still searching for enjoyment above all else. The only saving grace: the fries. Honest and not greasy, they salvage the place and prevent total disaster. In short: If you're hungry for potatoes, place your order. If you're hungry for good food, look elsewhere. My criticism is well-founded and without animosity, but the fact remains: industrial mediocrity shouldn't be hidden behind fancy words.

The atmosphere is always friendly when you come to place your order; the welcome is warm and the service is quick. The fries are very good, as is everything else. The value for money is excellent. It's always a pleasure to come here; I highly recommend it for a great, friendly chip shop!
